Help me help you! 7 Ways to Make Volunteering More Accessible

I’ve done a lot of volunteer work. I started out in elementary school handing out water to marathon runners, but got way more serious during college after I figured out the issues that truly hold a special place in my heart. I have done a combination of volunteer work in the LGBTQIA+, disability, and youth rights spheres. Much of the experience felt quite frustrating and disempowering and I started to notice some patterns across causes. Here is how I think volunteering could become more accessible (Disclaimer: These are my thoughts as a hearing, sighted AuDHDer without chronic pain, mobility differences, or other kinds of disability manifestations that could affect volunteering. Your mileage may vary).

1. Location needs to become less of an afterthought
