I definitely felt like I related much more to people having both simultaneously than people who had one or the other before my inattentive ADHD diagnosis got added on, which was something I had to push hard for, because multiple clinicians seemed to feel no diagnosis of mine would ever be "more important" than autism.
I also don't think it's necessarily bad to expect psychologists to be able to do a fair amount of educating of the people they evaluate, especially given how expensive and lengthy the whole process tends to be.
