I fail to understand how some folks can think "low support needs" adult-diagnosed autistics "dominate" or "hog" anything when it comes to visibility and tailored services.

I've had my suspicions about the employment programs for quite a while. Even when they seem to ditch the absurdly low expectations, the fact of the matter is that they seldom understand the true value of networking and are virtually always starting from exactly where the client is with industry contacts, which is from scratch.

You can't hire on a team of career counselors, psychologists, occupational therapists, and similar, and expect to curate good connections and idiosyncratic unspoken insights in a diverse array of industries to help offset the networking disadvantages of autistic clients. You can't expect lifelong employees to know anything about entrepreneurship either. The whole structure of vocational rehab and nonprofits that aim to replicate it is completely ass backwards and needs to be entirely rethought from the ground up.

UBI would certainly be a good idea in the meantime.
