I truly don't understand how some arrive at the conclusion that we "are the main focus", "have all the resources catered to us", and "silence those with higher support needs". I didn't even get diagnosed as a kid and have also struggled immensely with services turning me away after considering me "too educated", "well-spoken", "smart", "independent", etc. Where is this magical place some caregivers and fellow autistics speak of where someone like me would "get all the attention"? I wonder if there’s something adjacent to replacement theory going on where some folks, especially some parents, can’t handle no longer being able to monopolize the entirety of public autism messaging.
