Lurie Center for Autism: A Review

Three people referred me and I wish they hadn’t.

What is it?

The Lurie Center for Autism offers a smorgasbord of different autism services, such as diagnosis, medication prescribing, therapy, and interdisciplinary medical services specializing in autism.

The first referral

One day in the middle of last school year, while struggling to get anything useful done with my executive functioning coach, and talking about how challenging medication trials have been for me, she ended up recommending I contact the Lurie Center and get set up with a prescriber there. Since I currently attend school sort of close to its physical location and the website looked fairly decent, I decided to give it a go, despite all of the bad interactions with medical staff I’ve endured over a period of years. I figured that I had nothing to lose, especially since I had just partially relocated to a new city for my master’s program and didn’t have much going on yet in the way of local medical providers.
