Most therapists I have seen have a very confusing way of conversing that is very indirect, like the way your main question was turned back on you. It feels like it falls in some uncanny valley of trying to seem friendly, but not being a friend. At times, I have wished seeing a therapist could be a bit more like going to my GP, in that in the case of the latter, you go in, you get straight to the point, and you leave with advice about how to improve your quality of life.
