My nurse practitioner recently said something to the effect of, "It's not like people don't want to help autistic adults, it's just that clinicians are overwhelmed". It rubbed me the wrong way, but took me a while to figure out why. If clinicians are so overwhelmed, why are we consistently the lowest priority? There has to be some level of prejudice and bias going on.
