How to Get Me to Celebrate Chanukah

I will begin in typical recipe blog fashion with a backstory that you may or may not wish to read. However, if you feel yourself beginning to viscerally despise me, I strongly suggest you add the two outer collections of words to your reading agenda if you did not already plan on doing so, for some redeeming context.

I do not practice Judaism. I actually subscribe to absolutely no religion whatsoever. I am also incredibly unenthusiastic about holidays. If I could change how holidays work in the world, I would make it standard practice for every person on the planet to have two months off work and/or school to distribute and make use of freely. Furthermore, I learned early on that my natural instincts toward both holidays and religion would make participation in both more challenging than for the average person. Religion ended in my immediate family’s household right around when I got kicked out of Sunday school for asking the instructor to provide proof of any sort of deity’s existence and I remained an aggressively proselytizing atheist until my late teens.
